Proposal

ChartLogic Inc, MacPractice, and e-MD’s DocMan are examples of three companies that are revolutionizing the medical industry. In the past, medical offices and hospitals have been very dependent on paper charts and hand written direction. With the immersion of technology in our everyday lives, it is surprising that the medical industry has not taken an earlier advantage of different electronic options. Many factors come into play when dealing with the medical industry, privacy being the main issue.

The purpose of this project is to discuss electronic usage in the medical field, particularly with the usage and replacement of charts and communications. Different practices, companies, and devices will be discussed, along with interviews as available. Issues surrounding the use of technology in the medical field will also be a topic, as well as surveys with current medical professionals regarding their opinion of a paper-to-electronic overhaul of medical facilities. The project will be presented in a blog format at the following webpage: http://dawnwolffista160.blogspot.com/

  2. Maybe you are aware of this article, but it seems that Blackberry's PlayBook is trying to supersede Apple's iPad in the the healthcare field. Check it out.
